See below for a post and idea from PICA -- a friend of Patina's. Do any GLG members in Patina Nation wish to comment?

I've had a fruitful relationship with GLG for several years.  The PICA blog makes a good point - SME's in highest demand are able to competently answer questions that are "hot topics" to wall street (and to a lesser extent, industry).   For me, the biggest positive in working on GLG projects was doing what I love to do for people who need exactly what I offer.  Talking to colleagues, it seems the biggest negative in working with GLG is GETTING those projects.  You can spend uncompensated hours responding to their many "always urgent" requests.  It's all about how well you fit their needs for that project.

Thanks, much, Brian. Did they call on you frequently? I assume the amount of requests is generally subjective to their clients' needs -- and varies greatly.

@ottumcomcast-net - I had the same experience.  I complete 15-20 vetting requests for every consult that I actually get.  I also do the same type work for Coleman Research and GuidePoint.  All have extensive vetting and few actual results.
